The barrier between you and your thoughts

I'm very curious to know what you guys think about this one since it does a very good job of summarizing everything I'm trying to point out in this group. Can you please let me know what you think, and if you disagree, please tell me why, so we can work on it.

Also, I started making video responses to your mental health questions as a way to better share advice with you all.

The last video I made was in response to @myshel who asked about how to deal with anxiety throughout the week. If this information is relevant to you, you can check out the video here:

www.instagram.com/thomas_of_copenhagen

Otherwise, if you have any questions about mental health, please post in my group and I will try to make a video response specifically for you.

~ Thanks to all. Thanks for all. ~

Speaking of thanks for all, I was hoping we could acknowledge everyone who comments below. I know it seems like a small gesture, but many people here have never opened up to anyone before and being open and honest with strangers can be quite scary. So, if we could show our gratitude by giving their comment a simple reply or heart, I’m sure they would really appreciate your team support. What do you say?

Compassion

So many people in this group have such a large heart. It's a joy to read all the lovely messages of support and compassion for each other that you share here. But please include yourself in your messages of compassion. Will you do me a favor and think about whatever the last thing you said to someone else was and say it to yourself? How does that make you feel?

Don't believe everything you think

I just want to remind everyone how normal it is to have a very cruel mind. It doesn't matter where you live, who you are, or what you do, because the mind will always come up with something awful to say about your life. Therefore, it is so important that you practice a vigilant level of skepticism towards your thoughts. Please don't believe everything you think. When a thought pops up, start practicing the habit of questioning it and throwing it away. I know this probably sounds impossible, but does anybody have any success with this?

Just watch your breath

Whenever you have a terrible thought, switch your focus to your breath. The mind will try to distract you with thought activity, but just keep watching your breath. What happens when you do this? Can you try for 5 minutes?

Practice self-love

So much of our pain comes from the way we treat ourselves. We do whatever we can to prevent other people from saying bad things about us, but we don't spend too much time stopping ourselves from thinking bad things about ourselves. Who is ready to make a change and honor themselves with kindness, gentleness, and support?

New perspective

For my recovery from depression, it was vital I had someone with a different perspective. I've had about 9 therapists in my life, plenty of people who I got mental health advice from, and I have a mental health teacher who I listen to regularly in the evenings. New perspectives have been vital to my mental, physical, and spiritual growth. What about you? Do you have a mentor or friend who can help you with new perspectives?

The last video I made was in response to @synthia who asked about how to overcome a lack of motivation when battling depression. If this information is relevant to you, you can check out the video here:

Let's help each other

I know that so many people here have tried to reach out, in a time of need, to family, friends, and professionals, hoping to get some kind of help, but instead were quickly told to simply get over it. We all know this doesn't work, and it's very painful when this is the response we get. Does anyone have an example they'd like to share of when this happened? More importantly, does anyone have an example of when they got help the RIGHT way? If so, what did you need help with, and what was the person's way of giving that help? Do you have any advice for how we can better show support? Or is there something you would like help with right now?

Also, I started making video responses to your mental health questions as a way to better share advice with you all.

The last video I made was in response to @soultalon who asked about how to use exposure therapy to overcome trauma and fear. If this information is relevant to you, you can check out the video here:

A gentle reminder

Are you guys remembering to be gentle to yourself? Please remember that life is full of challenges, it is full of hardships, and it is full of unfair events that we have no power over. Fortunately, you have survived 100% of all of these obstacles. Have you learned any valuable lessons from a particular hardship that you would like to share? Or are you perhaps dealing with a hardship right now that you would like help with? Let us know in the comment section so we can all support each other.

Also, I started making video responses to your questions in my group as a way to connect better with you. The last two videos I made, since the last time I posted, were to @shinedwn82 about panic attacks and @jennifer83swartz about getting stuck in negative thinking. If these challenges are relevant to you, you can check out my videos here:

What weight are you carrying?

Can anyone relate to holding weights in their life? Were you able to let it go?

Also, I've been trying to figure out how I can create a better connection with you all and help you better, so I'm delighted to tell you that I've started making video responses to your questions in my group.

The last video I made was for @jcw12

So, if you have any questions about mental health, please post in my group and I will respond. Depending on how many I get, I might not be able to make a video response to all of them, but I certainly will at least give you a written response. Thanks again for all the support and trust. It really means a lot to me. You can see the videos here:
